Thimphu, Paro and Wangdue Phodrang Tour Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival at Bagdogra International Airport at & Transfer to Phuentsholing. The Gateway of Bhutan by road from India. Phuentsholing is a thriving commercial canter on the northern edge of the Indian Plains. Overnight Stay at Phuentsholing .
Day 2
After breakfast, and permit formalities proceed to Thimphu. In afternoon visit TrashiChhoeDzong: Also called Fortress of the Glorious Religion, it is situated north of the city on the west bank of the Wang Chhu. The Dzong was the site of the lavish formal coronation of the fifth King in 2008 and hosts the city biggest annual bash, the colorfultsechu festivities. Spend rest of the evening at leisure. Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 3
After breakfast visit KuenselPhodrang (Buddha Statue) a place for refreshing with a huge statue of Buddha on the top of the KuenselPhodrang, National Memorial Chorten (Monument) & Folk Heritage Museum. Afternoon visit Sangaygang View Point, Changangkha Monastery, Taking Preserve Centre, The talking national animal of Bhutan can be seen here TashichhoDzong (Fortress of the Glorious Religion). Overnight stay at Thimphu.
Day 4
After breakfast drive to Punakha / Wangdue, On the way Stop at Dochu-La- Pass (3150 mts.). to view the higher Himalayas. Arrival at Punakha check in at hotel. After noon visit Punakha Dzong – built in 1637 by ZhabdrungNgawangNamgyal. For many years until the time of the second king, it served as the seat of the Government. The Dzong was named DrukPungthangDechenPhodrang (Palace of Great Happiness). Punakha is still the winter residence of Je-Khenpo and King JigmeDorjiWangchuck convened the first National Assembly here in 1952. After that take a short excursion trip to visit the ChhimiLhakhang - The Temple, also known as “The Temple of Fertility” was built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley, “The Devine Mad Man”. Evening free for leisure. Overnight stay will beatPunakha/Wangdue.
Day 5
After breakfast, drive to Gangtey (9,840 ft.). Gangtey is the home of Black Necked Crane which migrates from the arid plains of Tibet in the north. It is a beautiful valley of Bhutan. You can also visit Gangtey Gompa. Evening return back. Overnight stay at Punakha.
Day 6
After breakfast check out from hotel and drive to Trongsa across Pele-La- Pass (11.120 ft.) traditional boundary between east & west Bhutan, There is an adrupt change in vegetation, with mountain forest replaced by high altitude dwarf bamboo. Stop EnrouteChendbjiChorten - built in the style of the great BodhanathChoten of Nepal. Further ahead visit Trongsa Dzong – It was the seat of power over central & eastern
Day 7
After breakfast, 1st half visit JakarDzong: Literally meaning the Castle of White Bird. The current structure was built in 1667. LameyGoemba: A large palace and monastery built in 18th century by DashoPhuntshoWangdiJambayLhakhang: built by King SrongsenGampo of Tibet. In October one of the most spectacular festival, “JambayLhakhangDrup” is staged here. ChakharLhakhang: Literally meaning the Iron Castle, the original palace was made of Iron and hence the name “Chakhar”. KurjeyLhakhang: Named after body print of Guru Rimpoche. Afternoon 2nd half Visit TamshingLhakhang: Literally meaning the Temple of the good message, established in 1501 by Pema Lingpa. Membarstho: Literally meaning, “The burning Lake”. The evening ends visit a local handloom weaving house and Interact with the weavers. Overnight stay at Bumthang.
Day 8
After breakfast drive to Punakha. Reach Punakha by late afternoon. On arrival check in at the hotel. Overnight stay at Punakha/Wangdue.
Day 9
After breakfast drive to Paro (7,483 ft.). On the way stop at Lamperi to visit Royal Botanical Park - The park contains a rich biodiversity of flora and fauna and features a huge species of plants and animals including endangered species. On arrival check in at the hotel. Afternoon visit Ta Dzong- National Museum with an excellent collection of arts, relics, religious thangkha, etc.RinpungDzong - Meaning & fortress of the heap of jewels & The dzong now serves as the administrative and judicial seat of Paro. Evening free for leisure. Overnight stay at Paro.
Day 10
After Breakfast paro sightseeing visit DrukgyelDzong (dzong = fortress/monastery), the ruined fortress from where Bhutanese repelled several invasion by Tibetan armies. On a clear day, there is splendid view of Mt. Chomolhari one of the highest peak in bhutan from the approach road to this Dzong. On the way back you can visit the 7th century KyichuLhakhang, a temple of historical significance and one of the most sacred shrines in Bhutan Later visit Ta Dzong (National Museum) and then walk down the trail to visit RinpungDzong, the fortress which has a long and fascinating history and night stay paro.
Day 11
After Breakfast check out from hotel and move to Bagdogra. Towards your journey.
